Linda Trice is the author of books and articles for children and adults. This former first grade teacher and college professor entertains and enlightens both audiences.

Linda's books include Charles Drew: Pioneer of Blood Plasma (McGraw-Hill ISBN: 0071353178) for ages 9-12 and Kenya's Word (Charlesbridge) for ages 4-9. Her short fiction and nonfiction for children have appeared in Pockets, Short Stories for Reading Aloud, Wee Ones, and other magazines.

Her short fiction for adults has appeared in Naples Review, Small Pond and other literary journals.

About Linda Trice

Linda Trice was born and raised in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, NY. She received an undergraduate degree from Howard University in Washington, DC, and a graduate degree in Creative Writing from Columbia University. She also holds a Ph.D. in Black Studies.

Before making writing her fulltime career, Linda taught lower grades in public schools in New York, Connecticut and Washington, DC. On the college level, she taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in writing and Black Studies. She was a columnist and book reviewer for Comcast, The Hartford Courant, QBR Kids, Black Enterprise and other periodicals.

Linda won numerous prizes for her writing including the Pewter Plate Award from Highlights for Children, and several awards from The National League of American Pen Women. She was profiled in Cobblestone Publishing's Footsteps Magazine in "African American Women Authors," is listed in Poets & Writers' Directory of American Poets and Fiction Writers, and is a member of the Authors Guild.

Linda Trice is available to speak to adults and children.

Her topics for adults include How to Get Started Writing for Children (a workshop), Careers in Publishing, and How To Select Books Children Will Love. Her audiences have included the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, teachers and librarians at the University of South Florida and students in adult education programs.

Her topics for children include Stories from Black History and An Exploration of Adjectives based on Kenya's Word. She has appeared at the Harlem Children's Zone and in classrooms and libraries in New York and Florida.

Linda Trice participated in the St. Petersburg (FL) Reading Festival, the Kennedy Center's Multicultural Children's Book Festival (Washington, DC), the Harlem Book Fair (New York, NY) and the Sarasota (FL) Reading Festival.
